Jordana Fiorini received her angel wings on January 22, 2016 at the tender age of 10 years old. Jordana is the beautiful daughter of Luciano and Alison and beloved sister of Lucas and Laurence. Jordana’s journey began at SickKids in September, 2015 when she was diagnosed with a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
Brain tumors are the most common cause of childhood cancer death. DIPG is the worst of these, a cancerous tumor of the brainstem, affecting children in their first decade of life, just as they are coming into being. Surgery cannot remove them and there is no drug treatment. There is an urgent need for research to better understand and to find treatments for these cancers.
